ReaMOD

I've been spending my nights recently working on something that I have wanted for a long time, and I'm thrilled to finally share my progress with you all!

Introducing ReaMOD, a C++ extension that seamlessly integrates FMOD Studio projects into REAPER.

  • Load and manage FMOD Studio projects and banks directly within REAPER.

  • Browse, audition, and integrate FMOD events and snapshots into your projects.

  • Adjust event parameters in real-time using intuitive GUI sliders or automation items.

  • Insert markers and items to trigger FMOD events along Reaper's timeline.

  • Save and load ReaMOD sessions for consistent work across projects

While ReaMOD isn't quite ready for public release, I’ll be sharing news and update on my progress here.

Custom Reaper Actions/Workflow Enhancements:

I have always enjoyed making my own tools and looking for ways to optimize my workflow to save time. Most recently I created a custom Reaper action that allows me to quickly open the original project for an audio file that I am using in a different Reaper project.

Here's how it works:

  1. When rendering audio files from Reaper, ensure that the origin project path is embedded in the file's metadata.

  2. Load the script as a custom action in Reaper.

  3. Select a Media Item in your current project.

  4. Run the custom action.

  5. If the selected Media Item has a valid Reaper project path stored in its metadata, the original project will open in a new project tab.

This script provides a simple and easy-to-manage alternative to using sub-projects, helping you streamline your workflow and save valuable time.

The script is available on my GitHub repository for anyone to use and adapt. Feel free to try it out in your own projects and share your feedback or suggestions.

Follow this link if your curious to see any of the other ways that I have customized Reaper to work better for my day-to-day work as a sound/music designer.

In 2023, Daniel participated in the Airwiggles March Through Sound event where the community received a new video for each day of the month and had only one hour to complete all the sound design. Here are some of his favorite creations from the challenge.
